Communicable Disease Investigation
There are approximately 70 diseases that hospitals, doctors, and laboratories are required by law to report to the local health department. These reports are then investigated by a public health nurse. Communicable diseases are illnesses of public health significance that can be spread from person to person. Examples of such diseases include Hepatitis, Shigellosis, Measles, and Tuberculosis.
